  • This book will appeal to an action-oriented leader, but it should be read very deeply in the organization. Its call for a "turnaround" culture starts at the top but needs to have its own fuel and ignition throughout the organization. I think this book could be a critical touchtone or reference point throughout a company to focus its turnaround efforts and really unleash potential. My husband is a VP of sales and marketing of an engineering firm and this is his review.

    My wife asked why I kept putting the book down and I said there was so much good information that I wanted to reflect for a couple minutes before reading on. I had to force myself to quit after 3 chapters so I could absorb everything. I will finish it tonight. Just as doctors are now better understanding the importance of treating the body as a whole instead of just one part at a time, it seems natural that businesses should do the same.

    In fact, this is how successful personal development works: Thus what Mark admonishes business to do through his holistic approach to culture change is exactly what successful people routinely do in their own lives to create an internal culture change. I'm willing to bet that the Echelon Strategy works so well is because it's how people actually work. One person found this helpful.

    The purpose of a business book for me is to read it in the evening and come in the next day with practical new ideas for how to solve problems or revitalize an activity without seeming like I'm coming in with a new "flavor of the day. We really looked at one of our service processes and this focus resulted in an innovative way to be more efficient and to leverage our service items so work isn't duplicated. Kudos to Mark Faust for Growth or Bust! He delivers a powerful and practical guide to business leaders interested in growing their company.

This book is a tremendous field guide for action on all fronts for turnaround or accelerated growth. It is a fast paced read with ideas presented quickly and concisely.
