Change does seem to be a constant in my life, I guess in most American lives. I am not dealing well with all change in my life so I picked this up hoping Gaines would help me cope with the challenge of change. I found most of what Gaines had to say to be thoughtful and possibly useful. She believes that God is love, that without God and faith we won't have a good life, that self-love is absolutely necessary for a good life and that change comes when the person is ready and willing to change. Gaines writes about her beliefs well and her examples of successful change were excellent.

My only problem, and it is my problem not Gaines', is that most of this is not new to me. As someone who reads inspirational and spiritual books fairly regularly, I have heard these concepts before. I just don't manage to actually apply these to my own life. Gaines has overcome a lot in her life and I don't want to make light of her writings. They are very good. She says that change is difficult and you need to rely on God's help. I just hate giving up what little control I think I have. It is very possible I will take some of Gaines' advice in the future.

I just need to increase my faith in my God. Gaines gets a great deal of credit for turning her life around. Jul 08, Chayne rated it really liked it. A wonderful book on change. This is for anyone who is ever questioning their faith in life and looking towards making better changes in themselves and lifestyle. I love how Patrice Gaines doesn't come off as being overly religious towards you, or religious at all, but more so relating God to a personal and universal perspective. Listening to her own stories of struggle, and how she overcame them, is the evidence itself that backs up her claims.

And all the power you need to live a holy, healthy, and prosperous life resides in your spirit. Have you ever asked anybody whether or not they have received the Holy Spirit since they believed? Why do I say this? Because in Acts 19, upon meeting some disciples in Ephesus for the first time, the Apostle Paul immediately asked them this very question.
Now, if he found it necessary to ask this question of believers, but you have never seen the need to ask it of yourself, or of anyone else, then it can only mean Read More. When religious minds hear the message of grace preached uncompromisingly, one of the first objections that arises deals with holiness. They wrongly conclude that telling people that Jesus met every requirement of the Law on their behalf and that God has once and for all forgiven them of all their sins, past, present, and future is giving them license to sin.
Stop trying to be holy. You heard me right. Now, I did not say, do not be holy. That would be blasphemy! I said, stop trying to be. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.

But because he was righteous in the sight of God and because he knew God would hear his prayers. May your prayers have the power to cause heaven to rain down blessings of all descriptions upon individuals, families, communities and nations! Tremendous power, dynamic in its working. That is power capable of blessing people, changing circumstances, solving problems, defeating devils, and establishing destinies. In junior high school, I learned the difference between potential energy and kinetic energy. Potential energy is the stored energy of an object at rest.
Kinetic energy is the energy of an object in motion. By the application of some type of force to the object at rest, potential energy can be transformed to kinetic energy, generating a huge amount of power that can get amazing results. Jesus promised that you will receive power after the Holy Spirit comes into you.

This means the power of the One who created the world out of nothing is inside of you. And this means all the power you need for success in life is within you. All the power you need to triumph is inside of you. It is potential power waiting to be put into motion; to become dynamic power, power that is working, moving to change people, circumstances and things.

Now, what can you do to put all of this potential, divine power resting in you into motion, so that it can strengthen you to endure any challenge, change any circumstance, solve any problem, and cause any devil or witch to flee? Prayer, the heartfelt prayer of the righteous, makes tremendous power available. Your prayers can set the power of the Holy Spirit into motion. But notice, it not everybody who prays who gets this result. James qualified his statement by saying, it is the prayer of the righteous man that accomplishes this.
And this is where the blood of Jesus comes in, why the blood is so essential to prayer. The only thing that can make a man righteous is the blood of Jesus. Not the law—for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
